What I thought about, related to myself, is how I view myself and while it might be fortunate that I meet, get a job, better than a parent - if I don't change myself, then I fall back onto the original status...... things might work out. Let's face, love surpasses every thing.....
It seems to me that all of the speed dating studies showing female “revealed preference” is for a good looking men over men with good personalities/good providers suffer from the same flaw. They are speed dating events. By their nature good looking people (both male and female) have a massive advantage at speed dating events because the only criteria that can be accurately determined at such an event is physical attractiveness. It’s impossible to really known if the person is wealthy (or confirm he actually has a job) or even get an accurate view of their personality in 3 to 5 minutes. In the absence of information (for example it would likely be difficult to determine if a person had a drinking problem) decisions are made based on the only reliable information available—looks. So I don’t think you can conclude anything from the speed dating studies other than good looking people are more likely to get dates from such events.
This reminds me of the old saying, "judge a man by his deeds not his words." I don't think it's entirely a woman problem.
